"Great value and great location"
We stayed at this hotel for 5 days last week. Prior to going I read the review posted by the member from Dallas, Texas and was concerned that the hotel would not come up to the expected standard. To me, "You get what you pay for" means having paid peanuts and received little in return. This could not be further from the truth so fas as Am Terrassenfur is concerned. The average price for a double room is 125 euro (87.50 British Pounds or 152 US dollars). I would not call this cheap but it does represent great value and includes an absolutely fabulous breakfast. The choice is amazing and, being buffet, you can eat as much as you like. The hotel was beautifully heated in all areas, as it was bitterly cold outdoors, and could not have been more comfortable. Dresden, even in July and August, never has temperatures which warrant air conditioning in rooms. Bedrooms are large and well furnished and have windows which can be opened wide in summer, if necessary. Unlike air conditioning, the air is clean as there is no industry nearby. It is true that bathrooms have no bath, but showers are really efficient and there is constant hot water. Who wants to lie in a bath these days, in any case?!! Showers are far healthier and cleaner. The bathrooms are compact, but sparkling clean and have everything you need (except a bath!!). The location is fantastic - everything of interest is within a few minutes walk and it is easy to get from the airport. If you want to save on taxi fares, S-Bahn (located on the lower ground floor of the terminal building) to Dresden Neustatd station then number 3 tram, almost to the hotel door, is a mere 1.70 euro. The same ticket covers train and tram. The hotel's restaurant, The Pavilion, is very good and the food is not expensive. Staff are helpful and friendly and very efficient. If we decide on a return visit to Dresden, this will be the hotel of our choice.
